CareMalta was the first private company to closely collaborate with Government in developing Malta's first Public Private Partnership (PPP) in older persons care at Zejtun in 1994. This PPP relationship continues to develop very successfully, so much so that CareMalta today operates two other Government owned facilities at Cospicua (opened in December 1999) and Mellieha (opened in March 2008).
CareMalta is responsible to provide both Care and Hotel services both at Cospicua and Zejtun home whilst only hotel services at Mellieha home. The care services at Mellieha home fall under the responsibility of the government.
