James Sciriha first joined the group in 2001 as a student worker whilst studying at University. In 2010, he rejoined the company as a Group Financial Controller after working and specialising in funds and securitization both locally and overseas with an international audit firm (Deloitte) for 3 years. He was appointed Director of Finance at CareMalta on 1st January, 2017.  James holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from the University of Malta, and a Diploma in Fund Administration from the University of Manchester. He won prestigious awards such as the Institute of Financial Services overall excellent student in 2010 and the John Earland Prize Fund award 2010 supported by the Central Bank of Malta.

During his tenure at CareMalta Group James was involved in a number of projects; namely the winning of Zammit Clapp tender, the extensions of Casa Arkati, Dar il-Madonna tal-Mellieha, Zejtun Home and Zammit Clapp; the opening of Casa San Poalo and Casa Marija, the refurbishment of Villa Messina, HILA Homes projects, and the opening of LiveLife; being the first rehabilitation centre in Malta.

James also served as a Director of  Hand in Hand Malta Limited, a company offering therapeutical services for children with challenging behaviours, and led the CareMalta Group live-in during the Covid-19 pandemic. In recent years, James worked alongside the outgoing CEO, Natalie Briffa Farrugia, in leading the CareMalta Group.

Qualified as a nurse by profession and having worked in the cardiac intensive care unit at Mater Dei Hospital, Noel Borg joined the group in October 2005 as a staff nurse and later on as a deputy manager. In 2010, Noel was appointed as Facility Manager of Casa Arkati, Mosta where he was responsible for the overall management of the home and later in 2012 he was appointed Nursing Manager of Zammit Clapp Hospital Residential Home. After four and a half years, he was promoted to Senior Nursing Manager of CareMalta Ltd until 2022.

Today Noel occupies the role of a Chief Operations Officer. He is also appointed as a non-executive Director with HILA Ltd. and CareMalta Group Ltd. Noel holds a Diploma in Health Science (Nursing), BSc. (Hons) Nursing, International Diploma in Human Resources and Personnel management and Masters of Arts in Bioethics. He also graduated at post-graduate level in Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management. Noel is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta and is a member of the Military and Hospitalier Order of St.Lazarns of Jerusalem.

Business Development

Charlene Vella Vassallo recently joined the Care Malta Group as a director focusing primarily on alternative care. A lawyer by profession, she obtained her Doctorate in Laws in 2012 and certainly not new to the Vassallo Group, as she has been a director and shareholder for a good number of years. In 2018 she read a Masters of Laws in Human Rights of the Child from the University of London . Since 2020 she has also  been appointed as director on the board of Diligex, wherein she represents the group whilst at the same time offering her expertise in the legal background.

Charlene Vella Vassallo is a mother of four. She firmly believes that through her journey of embracing motherhood  and past missionary experiences,  she has rekindled a strong desire, to give something back to society. As a newly appointed director on business development within the CareMalta Group, she aspires to put her human rights’ specialisation into practice particularly through the new venture of alternative care.

Charlene is an avid open water swimmer having also participated in the Gozo-Malta swim in 2021.  A sports enthusiast,  she had also participated in various marathons and similar challenges not to mention, that she has represented Malta in an illustrious 10 year career in rugby, moulding her in a strong and determined person also capable and acknowledging the importance of working in a team.

Janet Silvio first joined the group in 2009 as Facility Manager of Cospicua Home for the Elderly.  She was appointed Business Development Manager in June 2014, having as her main focus the development of new specialised services for the group.

Janet graduated in Accounting with the Malta Institute of Accountants, where she is also a fellow member, in 2001, and is also a certified public accountant under the Ministry of Finance, Malta.  She worked in accounting and audit firms from 1996 to 2001 before moving on to the service industry to focus more on a managerial career, spending five years in senior management roles for two companies, both of which leaders in their market.

Through her role as Business Development Manager, Janet developed a new company within the group, HILA Homes Ltd, with its first home, Casa Apap Bologna in Mosta, being the first private service of its kind to offer residential and respite service for persons with disability.  On 1st January 2017 she was appointed Executive Director of HILA Homes Ltd. Throughout her tenure as Executive Director with HILA, Janet led the company to the opening of two more specialised homes, Dar Bjorn in Qormi and Casal Nuovo in Paola, together with the successful negotiation and signing of three contracts with Agenzija Sapport, ALS Malta Foundation and the Ministry for Health and a commitment for the operations of Dar Bjorn in Zebbug.

On 1st January 2022 Janet was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of HILA Homes Ltd.

Chris first joined the Vassallo group of companies in 2014 as an Accountant at CaterEssence Ltd. After just 5 months, he was promoted to Financial Controller of the same company following restructuring within the Senior Management. After more than 4 years with CaterEssence Ltd, he joined CareMalta Group in October 2018 as the Group’s Financial Controller.

Chris holds an ACCA qualification and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. Throughout his career he has worked in all ranks existing within the structure of a Finance Department having started at the very basic, that of a clerk. His experience varies from that of Finance services, Manufacturing as well as Hospitality. Chris is responsible for the management of the finance department.

In a distinguished career spanning 17 years which started off with Vassallo Builders, Elisa embarked on a remarkable journey that commenced in the role of an Accounts Clerk. This foundational position instilled in her an unwavering commitment to the meticulous management of data and precision in financial records, enduring values that define her professional character.

Progressing to an Executive role, she not only executed financial responsibilities but also provided invaluable support to the Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary. It was during this pivotal phase that Elisa uncovered her true vocation, a passion for engaging with individuals, nurturing their growth, and driving them towards their full potential, ultimately leading her to a distinguished career in Human Resources.

Elisa’s journey in HR commenced by overseeing a consortium of companies, including CaterEssence, Vassallo Group Realty, and Vassallo Group, a role she diligently pursued for three years. This dedication resulted in her subsequent elevation to the esteemed position of Senior HR Executive. In April 2023, she achieved the pinnacle of her professional journey, being appointed as HR Manager at CareMalta Group Limited. Her educational path, while leaving a university degree incomplete, remains an enduring quest for knowledge and professional excellence. She successfully achieved a Diploma in Leadership and Management (Level 5) and earned the distinction of Women in Leadership (Level 6), solidifying her resolute dedication to leadership and management excellence.

With over thirty five years experience in the hospitality industry, Mario passed the first three years hands-on in all of the hotel departments, followed by nine years specializing in food and beverage management. The subsequent ten years he diversified in various management roles within the hotel setting. Later Mario was entrusted with the opening of the Corinthia Marina Hotel with 5 star standards.

With his ability of Supervision, training and motivation, he was also promoted as General Manager of other hotels both locally and overseas. Mario joined CareMalta in 2014 as a Facility Manager and has been promoted to Senior Services Manager in 2019.
