A Birthday party in honour of Giuseppa Mercieca turning 100 years old was held at Cospicua Home. Giuseppa who is originally from Paola was never married and had 8 siblings who she looked after with her mother by helping with house chores and cooking. Her brother Father Gwakkin stated that she was very dedicated to the family and spent most of her time at home taking care of everyone around her. In fact in a lifetime she must have visited Valletta only once since she chose to spend her life close to home.
The event commenced with a Mass that was held in the home’s chapel at 10.30am delivered by her brother Father Gwakkin. Following mass guests proceeded to the reception area where Giuseppa was presented with a Bouquet of Flowers and a gift from Natalie Briffa Farruiga while the Greenfields kept the Residents entertained.
The dining room was nicely set up for a lavish lunch with white clothed tables and pink chair bow ties, flowers and balloons. Special guests present for this event were Mr Patrick Vella (Director for the Elderly), Ms Alexia Vella (Assistant Director for the Elderly), Ms Alison Zerafa (Cospicua Mayor), Dun Anton and Hon Agius Decelis. CareMalta’s CEO Mrs Natalie Briffa Farrugia, Facility Manager Ms Josette Grech and HR Manager Mr Lee Xuereb were also present along with Giuseppa and her family.
Giuseppa enjoyed this event and had a great time stating ‘I loved every minute!’. Guests also enjoyed this event and passed very positive feedback about the lunch organized and the food served.
