MARIA XUEREB
Nursing Manager
Maria joined CareMalta as a Facility Manager at Bormla Home in 2018. In 2020 she was appointed Group Nursing Manager and member of the Operations Team.
A nurse by profession, Maria graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Nursing Studies in 2004 from the University of Malta. Her work experience includes nine years at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at St Luke’s Hospital and later at Mater Dei Hospital.
Maria spent another two years working in Primary Health Care following which, she was appointed as a licensing officer within the Superintendence of Public Health, responsible for inspecting Elderly Care Homes across Malta and Gozo.
Maria holds a Master of Arts Degree in Bioethics and a post-graduate level in Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management, both awarded by the University of Malta.
ZVETLANA FARRUGIA
Nursing Manager
Zvetlana joined CareMalta as a Facility Manager at Casa San Paolo in 2020. In 2023 she was appointed Nursing Manager and member of the Operations Team.
A nurse by profession, Zvetlana graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Nursing Studies in 2008 from the University of Malta. Following the completion of her studies she spent five years as an ITU nurse, and 2 years at the Infection Control Department Mater Dei Hospital. In 2016 she was employed in the private sector as Head as Community Nursing Services, where she was responsible for the management and operations of domiciliary nursing, care and home help services for Malta and Gozo.
Zvetlana holds a Master’s in Public Health Medicine awarded by the University of Malta.
JAMES BUTTIGIEG
Projects Manager
James started his career with CareMalta back in 1997 as a maintenance technician at Villa Messina. After a few years, he was given the opportunity to take care of and coordinate the maintenance operations in the facilities managed by CareMalta. Throughout the years he assisted in many of the facilities’ extensions and new projects of the Group.
As of 2018, James was appointed as Projects Manager and forms part of the Operations team, taking care of the projects and refurbishments in all CareMalta’s facilities and HILA’s Homes.
James holds qualifications in Leadership Management and also holds an electrical and refrigeration licence.
MICHAEL ZERAFA
Maintenance Manager
Michael started his career with CareMalta as an apprentice back in 1999. After his apprenticeship, he worked as a maintenance technician within all CareMalta’s facilities. Throughout the years, Michael was also involved in the opening of five facilities.
Michael holds an Advanced Technician Diploma in Plant Engineering as well as a qualification in Pragmatic Leadership. He was appointed maintenance manager within the operations team overall Care Malta and Hila facilities in November 2021.
CLAIRE COLDMAN
Services Manager
Claire Coldman has worked in senior management roles in Operation, Strategy, and General Management in both the private and public sectors, working in a variety of industries, including property development, hospitality, retail, oil and gas, and health and beauty. She studied business management and has developed a keen interest in the senior-care sector while studying for her MBA at the London School of Commerce.
Her thesis focused on providing intergenerational care through the establishment of Malta’s first institution that will house both elderly citizens and children. Following the completion of her MBA, she had the opportunity to become a member of the Active Ageing and Community Care’s Intergenerational Committee, within CareMalta, working on the creation and development of intergenerational programs aimed at bridging the aging and physical gap caused by the pandemic.
Following her experience as Facility Manager at Roseville, in 2023 Claire was appointed as Services Manager.
