Our Senior Management Team brings together expertise in operational leadership, clinical excellence, and organizational development. These committed individuals are responsible for overseeing day-to-day services across CareMalta’s facilities, ensuring that quality standards are upheld and consistently exceeded. Through close collaboration and a shared passion for care, they translate strategic goals into practical results that enhance the experience of residents and families alike.
Dr. Francesca Muscat
Operations Manager
Dr. Francesca holds a Doctorate (PhD) from the University of Malta for research into geriatric rehabilitation and digital health within the unique Maltese context.

She also holds a Masters in Biomedical Engineering (Surrey), a Post-graduate certificate in Postural Management (Oxford Brookes), and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (Malta).
With over twelve years of clinical experience, Dr. Francesca has worked primarily at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, where she was a board member in the Wound Management Committee, and the Ethics Committee for several years. She worked as a research support officer in Biomedical Cybernetics at the University of Malta, and lectures at the University of Malta Faculty of Health Sciences on the topics of Assistive Technology in Rehabilitation and Digital Health. She has also served as both a clinical and dissertation supervisor within the University of Malta, mentoring future professionals in the field.
She is a published researcher, with a keen focus on the rehabilitation and well-being of older persons in their communities, with a particular focus on the impact of healthcare technology.
Dr. Francesca is a member of the EuGMS-SIG on Geriatric Rehabilitation and remains dedicated to advancing evidence-based practices that enhance the lives of ageing populations.
Lara Grech
Operations Manager
Lara holds a Degree in Nursing Studies and a Master’s in Critical Care awarded by Cardiff University. A critical care nurse by profession since 2011, Lara first joined HILA Homes in June 2021 as Home Manager for Dar Bjorn in Qormi.

Throughout her years working in the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) at Mater Dei, Lara had the opportunity to make a difference during a person’s most vulnerable moments in life. This involved working in a fast-paced medical environment, which helped her develop strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
In 2023, Lara was appointed Facility Manager of Zammit Clapp Residential Home. For over two years she has been responsible for overseeing and enhancing the daily operations of the residence, further deepening her experience within the elderly care sector. Her role allowed her to work closely with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams, strengthening her commitment to ensuring dignity, wellbeing, and a high quality of life for older adults.
In 2025 Lara was appointed as the new Operations Manager within Care Malta Homes, where she will continue contributing her leadership, experience, and passion for excellence in elderly care.
Alison Muscat
Finance Manager
Alison Muscat joined CareMalta as a Finance Manager in 2025, bringing over 17 years of experience in the accounting and finance sector. She began her career in 2007 with one of the Big Four audit firms, where she gained extensive exposure to financial statement audits across diverse industries, including construction, manufacturing, and financial services.

In 2015, Alison transitioned into corporate accounting, and in 2022, she decided to move into the private sector. Alison’s expertise spans technical accounting, financial statement preparation, sustainability advisory, and the implementation of finance-related technology. She is particularly passionate about promoting sustainable business practices.
Alison holds the ACCA qualification and is a Certified Public Accountant and Auditor (CPA). She is also a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) and has completed a Diploma in Fund Administration.
Angelle Bezzina
Assistant HR Manager
Angelle Bezzina is an accomplished Assistant HR Manager with extensive experience overseeing comprehensive HR functions across both private and public sectors, including private healthcare.

She possesses expertise in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and well being, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations, ensuring seamless support for employees and management alike.
Specialising in Third Country National (TCN) applications, Angelle ensures full regulatory compliance while facilitating the successful integration of international talent.
With a formal education in Human Resources and fifteen years of experience in the health sector, she effectively implements efficient HR processes, enhances the employee experience, and maintains high standards in all HR practices. Known for her structured, detail-oriented approach and strong interpersonal skills, she is a reliable and valued contributor to any HR team.
James Buttigieg
Projects Manager
James holds qualifications in Leadership Management and also holds an electrical and refrigeration licence.

James started his career with CareMalta back in 1997 as a maintenance technician at Villa Messina. After a few years, he was given the opportunity to take care of and coordinate the maintenance operations in the facilities managed by CareMalta. Throughout the years he assisted in many of the facilities’ extensions and new projects of the Group.
As of 2018, James was appointed as Projects Manager and forms part of the Operations team, taking care of the projects and refurbishments in all of CareMalta’s and HILA’s facilities.
Michael Zerafa
Maintenance Manager
Michael holds an Advanced Technician Diploma in Plant Engineering as well as a qualification in Pragmatic Leadership. In November 2021 he was appointed Maintenance Manager within the Operations Team overall CareMalta’s and HILA’s facilities.

Michael started his career with CareMalta as an apprentice back in 1999. After his apprenticeship, he worked as a maintenance technician within all of CareMalta’s facilities. Throughout the years, Michael was also involved in the opening of a good number of facilities.
