A discussion celebrating diversity in Long Term Care, by guest speaker Patrick Ettenes, was held at Casa Arkati. A talk during which Ettenes talked about the personal experiences of living with dementia as an LGBTQ+ person.Diagnosed at 31 with frontal atrophy dementia, Patrick has at 39 already outlived his life expectancy and as someone living with HIV and early onset dementia, he works to raise understanding and awareness around these conditions. Ettenes is a much sought-after speaker and writer throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, USA, and Barbados.

During another event, at Villa Messina, Dolly Diamond performed to the residents, with the intention of entertaining yet at the same time bringing an element of inclusivity into the home.

These events were organised as a collaboration between CareMalta Group, the Malta Dementia Society, and the Allied Rainbow Communities, as part of the events for the Malta Pride Week which is taking place between the 2nd and 11th of September.
